Goddess worshipped for the 4th day of navratri is devi Kushmanda. Her name literally means- Ku means “a little”, Ushma means “warmth” or “energy” and Anda means “cosmic egg”. She created the whole universe (Brahmanda) just by falsh of her smaile. Thus for the purpose of creation, she is responsible for the creation of trinity of gods and goddesses and all the various gods.
She is the Ashtbhuji devi whose mala alone can bestow all siddhis and niddhis to the devotee by worshipping her on this day. She is very fond of pumpkin and is offered for the purpose of pleasing her. She rules the planet Sun and thus the whole solar system too. she approves the manifestations and desires of person and creates on this material plane.
She is worshipped by mantras-
Oṃ Devī Kūṣmāṇḍāyai Namaḥ.
Surasampuranakalasham rudhiraplutameva ch,
Dadhanam hastapadmabhyam kushmanda shubhdastu me.
