Bhojpatra Navgrah Yantra

A traditional yantra for the puja room, desk or altar, presented by its familiar name so you can choose by tradition.

Material named in the listing: bhojpatra.

Tradition and meaning

In the name, 'Bhojpatra' means birch bark; 'Navgrah' means the nine planets. Graha shanti yantras are traditionally kept by people who follow their astrologer's guidance on planetary worship. The Navagraha are the nine planetary deities of Jyotish, worshipped together in graha shanti rituals. A yantra is a sacred geometric diagram, traditionally used as a focus for worship and meditation; the lines and shapes are meant to be looked at, revered and often paired with a specific mantra. Yantras are traditionally associated with a mantra and with a particular deity or graha. The meaning is devotional and symbolic, with no promise of any result. Bhojpatra (birch bark) is the traditional writing surface for yantras and mantras in old Indian practice.

Placement and use

Traditionally a yantra is placed on a clean altar or in the puja room, often facing east or north-east, and handled with the same respect as a deity image. Use the mantra, day and method your tradition or guru teaches.

Care

Keep it clean and dry; wipe metal gently with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive polish. A clean cloth wrapper keeps it safe between uses.

FAQs

Do I need a priest to use it?

Most households simply place it respectfully at the altar and chant their regular mantra. A priest-led ritual is an option, and both routes are valid in different traditions.

Can I keep it in my shop or office?

Yes. Many people keep a yantra on a clean desk or small altar at work; choose a tidy, respectful spot away from shoes and clutter.

Which mantra should I chant?

Use the mantra your own tradition or guru teaches for this deity or graha.
