Tradition and meaning
In the name, 'Saraswati' means the goddess of learning. Learning yantras are traditionally kept on a study desk by students and teachers. Goddess Saraswati is the deity of learning, music and the arts; students often worship her before study or exams. A yantra is a sacred geometric diagram, traditionally used as a focus for worship and meditation; the lines and shapes are meant to be looked at, revered and often paired with a specific mantra. Yantras are traditionally associated with a mantra and with a particular deity or graha. They are devotional and symbolic objects, and no result is promised. A commonly used mantra for this deity or graha is 'Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah'; use the mantra your own tradition or guru teaches.
