Tradition and meaning

In the name, 'Laxmi' means the goddess of prosperity; 'Vastu' means the science of buildings and space. Yantras with this name are traditionally kept in shops, offices and cash rooms by people who follow Lakshmi or Kubera worship. Goddess Lakshmi is revered in Hindu tradition as the deity of prosperity, generosity and auspiciousness, worshipped especially on Diwali and Fridays. A yantra is a sacred geometric diagram, traditionally used as a focus for worship and meditation; the lines and shapes are meant to be looked at, revered and often paired with a specific mantra. Yantras are traditionally associated with a mantra and with a particular deity or graha. They are devotional and symbolic objects, and no result is promised. A commonly used mantra for this deity or graha is 'Om Shreem Mahalakshmiyei Namah'; use the mantra your own tradition or guru teaches.

Placement and use

Traditionally a yantra is placed on a clean altar or in the puja room, often facing east or north-east, and handled with the same respect as a deity image. Your own tradition or guru will set the mantra, day and method. Vastu items are commonly placed at the entrance, in the north-east or at the centre of the space, depending on the instruction you follow.
