Tradition and meaning

Surya, the Sun, is worshipped in Vedic tradition as the source of light and vitality, with Sunday and Surya Namaskar as customary observances. A yantra is a sacred geometric diagram, traditionally used as a focus for worship and meditation; the lines and shapes are meant to be looked at, revered and often paired with a specific mantra. Yantras are traditionally associated with a mantra and with a particular deity or graha. They are devotional and symbolic objects, and no result is promised. A commonly used mantra for this deity or graha is 'Om Suryaya Namah'; use the mantra your own tradition or guru teaches.
